Central Coast Small Business Network formed out of Twitter connection

Here’s something interesting that came across our desk today.
For all the chatter about Twitter [1] of late, there are still plenty of people who aren’t convinced [2] that it is a useful business tool. Then there is the outright suggestion [3] that it is largely the domain of idle, tech-savvy narcissists. (Amazing, really, that teens don’t tweet [4]).
However, we have already posted about one great example [5] of how Twitter has been used to accomplished something significant in the real world. And now here’s another one that’s pretty cool.
A bunch of small business owners on the Central Coast recently formed a connection on Twitter, sharing experiences, advice and business tips. So they decided to meet (known in twitter circles as a “tweetup [6]“). Since meeting, the group has grown into a fully-fledged organisation – the Central Coast Small Business Network, or CCBiz [7] – and it is officially launching on 27 August. Great initiative, people.
It just goes to illustrate that Twitter, like the internet itself, is just a tool. It’s how you use it that counts.
