News just in that Spellr.us [1], the website spell-checking service created by Sydney-based digital media company Melon Media [2], cast aside its beta training wheels this afternoon and launched to the public.

I covered [3] spellr.us last year when the service launched in private beta. (Spellr.us founder Kevin Garber invited Anthill to be a guinea pig.) The service, which held great promise back then, has been entirely rebuilt, tested and is now ready for the big time.

Pricing starts from a basic “Meerkat” free plan (five scans per month, website of up to 20 pages, one custom dictionary) through to the heavy duty “Elephant” plan at $276/month (unlimited monthly scans, unlimited sites up to 15,000 pages, schedules, RSS, multiple custom dictionaries).

Plans embedded below.

Garber has also confirmed that the service will soon feature an optional link checking feature, which can identify dead links within a site (the existence of which hurts the site’s page rank on Google).

Head on over [5] and give it a spin. You can enter a url on the home page and scan the first 100 pages without even signing up. But after seeing the results, you’ll want to.
